Art 212: Ceramics II

Course Objectives:
This class is intended for students who have learned the
four basic methods of pottery construction. Students will work on refining
their craftsmanship and developing a personal style while exploring more
advanced techniques. Instruction will include bisque and glaze firing
for stoneware pottery, slip and glaze decoration, and the production
of matched sets.
Text:
No textbook is required. However, liberal use of ceramic
books from the library is highly recommended.
Materials Required:
- small sponge*
- needle tool*
- rib tool*
- loop trimming tool*
- wire clay cutter*
- soft 3/4" glaze brush
- old hand towel
- various odd objects for texture
*These tools are available in the WNCC student book
store.
Twenty-five lbs. of clay and glazes will be supplied from
the lab fees.
Required Projects:
8 finished pieces (any methods)
Attendance:
This is a lab class. Attendance, therefore, is an important
part of the grade.

Required projects: 80%
Attendance: 20%
