The Fall 2010 required
“Introduction to Economics” support material is Thinkwell's
"Economics with Steven Tomlinson”.
This material consists of a package with: 1) the course website access code for
registration, and 2)
general information about available online services. This course now uses new online streaming video and audio which
is provided directly from the course website. The price of the materials is over $100. These materials come as a single wrapped
package, which includes an unused website access code, and should be
purchased at the WNC bookstore. Once the package has been
opened, it may not be returned.
Go to
http://www.wnc.edu/studentservices/bookstore.php
Also, you can obtain the Economics online registration
package directly from Thinkwell for about the same
price. Go to the Thinkwell web site at
http://www.thinkwell.com/
If
you have already enrolled with the college for this course, then you still must
sign-on to the “Introduction to Economics
ECON 100, Fall 2010, section W01” course web site, which is maintained by
the Thinkwell Company. You will be able
to do this on/after August 30th, 2010. All you have
to do is go to my web page, at the WNC web site, and link to the Thinkwell log-in web site to sign-on. You may also go directly to http://www.thinkwell.com/
The
course consists of several online audio/video streaming lesson modules, which
you will complete at your convenience by performing the following for each
module:
1. Viewing the specific online audio/video streaming directly
on the course website.
2. Studying the supporting downloadable review notes and
transcripts for that module on the THINKWELL web site.
3. Performing the graded exercise for that module on the
THINKWELL web site.
Each
exercise may be submitted TWO
TIMES which means that ALL exercises may be REPEATED ONCE for a possible improved
score. The recorded official score for any exercise for final scoring
will be the BEST SCORE
that was successfully submitted online.
The “Introduction to Economics”
course consists of 17 chapters having 131 modules, each with its own exercise
which is accessible on the course web site. You must complete all 131 exercises
to fully complete the course. Your grade is based upon the cumulative
points earned for all 131 exercises compared to the total possible 1,162 points for all 131 exercises in
the course, expressed as one final percentage score.
This is a cumulative point
grading system. There is one point for
every question in each exercise of each website tutorial unit within the
course.
The
course web site fully outlines all the chapters, and accompanying multi-media online
audio/video streaming modules, in its syllabus for the course. Each module has
downloadable printable notes and transcripts on the web site to assist you.
The
exercises can be performed at your convenience on the computer online with all
materials available to help you.
ALL WORK MUST
BE FINISHED AND SUBMITTED BY THE END OF THE DAY OF DECEMBER 18th, 2010,
MIDNIGHT (CENTRAL TIME) TO RECEIVE CREDIT. The course web site will be
closed to student access at that time.
No grade of
"Incomplete" will be given.
