FOR PROSPECTIVE MACROECONOMICS STUDENTS

IMPORTANT!!!  COMPLETION OF MICROECONOMICS, ECON 102, IS NOW A PREREQUISITE FOR ENROLLING INTO MACROECONOMICS, ECON 103, AT WNC.

Go to the WNC web site to my faculty web page. There is a lot of information available there at

http://www.wnc.edu/~cook/

Also, try clicking to the Thinkwell distance learning web page at

http://www.thinkwell.com/

The Fall 2011 required “Macroeconomics” support material is Thinkwell's "Macroeconomics with Steven Tomlinson”.  This material consists of a package with:  1) the course website access code for registration, and  2) general information about available online services. This course now uses new online streaming video and audio which is provided directly from the course website.  The price of the materials is over $100.  These materials come as a single wrapped package, which includes an unused website access code, and should be purchased at the WNC bookstore.  Once the package has been opened, it may not be returned.  Go to

http://www.wnc.edu/studentservices/bookstore.php

Also, you can obtain the Macroeconomics online registration package directly from Thinkwell for about the same price. Go to the Thinkwell web site at

http://www.thinkwell.com/

If you have already enrolled with the college for this course, then you still must sign-on to the “Macroeconomics ECON 103, Fall 2011, section 1002” course web site, which is maintained by the Thinkwell Company.  You will be able to do this on/after August 29th, 2011.  All you have to do is go to my web page, at the WNC web site, and link to the Thinkwell log-in web site to sign-on.  You may also go directly to http://www.thinkwell.com/

The course consists of several direct-streaming lesson modules, which you will complete at your convenience by performing the following for each module:

1.      Viewing the specific online direct-streaming lesson module presentation through the course website.

2.      Studying the supporting downloadable review notes and transcripts for that module on the THINKWELL web site.

3.      Performing the graded exercise for that module on the THINKWELL web site.

Each exercise can be repeated only once.  You have TWO tries for each exercise.  The recorded score used for grading is the BEST score of the two attempts that was fully completed and successfully submitted online.

The Macroeconomics course consists of 9 chapters having about 127 modules, each with its own exercise accessible on the course web site. You must complete all 127 exercises to fully complete the course. Your grade is based upon the cumulative points earned for all 127 exercises compared to the total possible points for the course, expressed as one final percentage score.

This is a cumulative point grading system.  There is one point for every question in each exercise of each website unit tutorial in the course.

The course web site fully outlines all the chapters, and accompanying modules, in its syllabus for each course. Each module has downloadable printable notes and transcripts on the web site to assist you.

The exercises can be performed at your convenience on the computer with all materials available to help you.  ALL WORK MUST BE COMPLETED BY SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17th, 2011, midnight (central time), WHEN THE COURSE ENDS.

No grade of "Incomplete" will be given.
