ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:

Academic Integrity Policies & Procedures as set forth by in the Nevada System of Higher Education Code will be observed in this class.  Students at WNC are expected to be honest and forthright in their academic endeavors because academic dishonesty disrupts the learning process and threatens the educational environment for all students.

Academic dishonesty is any form of cheating and plagiarism which results in students giving or receiving unauthorized assistance in an academic exercise or receiving credit for work which is not their own. Academic dishonesty will result in an “F” grade being issued.

METHODOLOGY, EVALUATION, GRADING:

Objectives will be achieved by attending lectures, completing quizzes and examinations.

Quizzes and Examinations  are due when indicated.  Late work will not be accepted without prior approval.  It is the student’s responsibility to discuss any emergencies with the instructor before quizzes and exams.  Each situation will be resolved individually.

Students are encouraged and responsible for clarification of any unclear material because there may not be adequate time to discuss every concept presented in the reading material.  However, all reading assignments will be considered for examinations.

Cell phones are not permitted during class.  They are a disruption to the learning process.

 “W” Grades:

As indicated below, grades are assigned based on the A to F scale. I do not routinely issue “W” grades!

·         If unable to complete the class or are not earning the desired grade, withdrawal from the class is possible until the last Friday before finals.  Grade would then become a “W.”

·         I assign “W” grades ONLY on request.  A student may request a “W” grade as an alternative grade.  This request must be e-mailed before midnight on date of final exams.

o   For Example:  “If I earn lower than a “C,” please issue a “W.”

Grades are earned using the following format and scale:

·         10%      = Attendance and participation

·         10%      = Guest Speaker—participation, question answers, report

·         35%      = Homework Quizzes

·         45%      = Final and Unit Exams (3 Unit Exams = 25%; Final = 20%)
