Hello, and welcome to Western Nevada College Online learning class with Janeen Malkovich! If you've enrolled in an online class from me, or even if you're just considering it, you've come to the right place. Read all the informaiton provided on this site to help familiarize yourself with the requirments for my courses. See WNC's Online Learning site at http://www.wnc.edu/webcampus/ and follow the links for first time users and other various helpful links. The purpose of this site is to acquaint you with some of the differences between face-to-face learning and distance learning, and to help you assess how suitable one of my WebCampus Classes might be for you. A great deal of reading and responsiblity relies on your skills as a college student. The items in the list on the left will guide you down a path that will, hopefully, answer many of your questions and calm some of your anxieties before the semester starts. Are you considering taking an online class? If so, you should probably begin with "Should I Take Online Classes?" It will explain a few of the differences between online classes and on-campus classes and help you decide whether or not your individual personality and learning styles fit into the model of a successful distance learner. Next, make sure you read my class procedures page, which outlines many requriements you will have to meet. As you move through the listing, you'll learn about what skills you need, the equipment and software that is required to take an online class, how the classes are delivered to you, and even find some resources to help you get started on this new adventure. It's not an exhaustive list, but it should be enough to get you started. Finally, online education is very different from a traditional classroom. A complete review of this guide and the course syllabus before beginning your first online class can give you a running start at a successful online learning experience. It's also a valuable resource to which you can return should you have questions during your class. Again, welcome, and best wishes as you start this new journey. |
